Comparing citation behavior of theses and research projects

Background and aim: One of the areas of content analysis is citation analysis. The aim of this study was to do citation analysis of theses and research projects in Islamic Azad University of Kermanshah.
Material and methods: The statistical population of this scientometric study was 351 documents including master's theses (307) and research projects (44), selected based on stratified sampling among 4000 documents using Morgan's table. Data were collected using a researcher-made checklist and analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics (Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Kruskal-Wallis and Friedman tests).
Findings: Findings showed that there was a significant difference between the number of Persian and non-Persian resources in master's theses and research projects. Moreover, there was a significant difference between the number of sources of master's theses and research projects based on update and type of resources (P=0.001).
Conclusion: More Persian resources are cited in theses than research projects.
